NGOAN MUC PASS
Ngoan Muc Pass ( Altitude 980m). Known to the French as Bellevue Pass, is about 5km towards Phan Rang and Thap Cham from Dan Nhim Lake and 64 km west of Phan Rang. On a clear day, you can see all the way across the coastal plain to the Pacific Ocean, an aerial distance of 55km. As the highway winds down the mountain in a series of switchbacks, it passes under two gargantuan water pipes ( still guarded by armed troops in concrete fortifications) that link Dan Nhim Lake with the hydroelectric power station
To the south of the Road ( To the right as you face the ocean) you can see the steep tracks of the Cremaillere linking Thap Cham with Dalat ( see the Dalat section earlier)
Sites of interest at the top of Ngoan Muc pass include a waterfall next to the hghway, pine forests and the old Bellevue Train station.
